Mikel Arteta thinks Myles Lewis-Skelly's future at Arsenal could be in midfield, after he was called up by England for his full-back displays.

ToggleLewis-Skelly has broken into Arsenal's first team this season, and his displays at left back have earned him a berth in Thomas Tuchel's first squad as England boss. While his performances at left back may earn him his first cap, club boss Arteta believes the 18-year-old has all the attributes to thrive in midfield.

Lewis-Skelly cut his teeth in the Gunners' academy as a midfielder, but was thrust into the first team as a full-back due to injury. Since making his professional debut in September the youngster has gone from strength-to-strength.
Mikel Arteta said: "He is very intelligent, very willing and very physical. If you have those three ingredients and you have a personality that can go through blips — it can happen — that is Myles. That is what he has done.
"He can do as a 6 and an an 8. It will depend a lot on the relationships and the chemistry with other players, how this evolves within the team.
"And football, which direction it goes , what demands of certain positions as well. He is certainly a player that can play a in lots of positions."
Before joining up with England teammates at St. George's Park, Myles-Skelly will likely feature in Arsenal's London derby versus Chelsea on Sunday. He will hope to pick up his first cap as a full international against Albania or Latvia as England begin their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.
